SNAPhair Care Guide

WASH

Use a Shampoo & Conditioner that is free of sulfates and alcohol. Sulfates are known for drying the hair out, often resulting in matting, frizz, or tangling.

Use cool/lukewarm water to wash your colored human hair topper.

The color may slightly fade after washing. This is normal.

Always deep condition the topper focusing on mid-shaft to ends. Let the conditioner sit for a few minutes to fully penetrate.

CARE

After every wash, apply hair serum and/or heat protectant throughout the hair, focusing on ends, to add moisture, shine, and protection. This helps limit damage caused by heat styling.

Styling

We recommend letting your topper air dry the majority of the way. The best temperature to straighten/curl your human hair product is between 250°-320°. You must make sure the hair is completely dry before adding heat to it.

HOW TO WASH YOUR HUMAN HAIR TOPPER

(DO’s & DONT’s)

DO’s:

CLOSE SNAPS

DETANGLE: To prevent shedding, gently comb the hair from the ends working your way to the top of the hair.

RINSE: Use cool/lukewarm water to rinse. Dip hair into water, holding onto the base to minimize tangling.

SHAMPOO: Massage sulfate-free shampoo into your hands then gently lather shampoo evenly along the hair as well as the cap from roots to ends. Rinse until water runs clear of suds. Squeeze hair to remove excess water.

CONDITION: Towel blot the hair. Distribute the conditioner evenly along the hair, avoiding the root area, and protecting the delicate knots. After, rinse the hair in cool water to seal the cuticle and add shine.

BLOT & COMB: Blot excess water with a towel and comb out with a wide-tooth comb.

AIR-DRY OR BLOW DRY: Place your topper on a wig stand or dry towel to air dry. Once damp you can treat it with leave-in moisture products and blow dry hair.

DONT’s:

FREQUENCY: Don't wash human hair products too frequently. While washing the hair can keep it clean, it can also strip the hair of its moisture leading to brittleness.

SHOWERING: Don’t wear your wig topper while in the shower.

CONDITIONING: Don’t rub conditioner directly onto the base, as this may cause the hair knots to loosen over time.

WATER TEMPERATURE: Don’t use hot water when washing your hair.

BRUSHING: Don’t brush out tangles while hair is still wet.

DRYING: Don’t wring or shake hair to remove excess water.

Care FAQ’s

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I WASH MY TOPPER?

Alternative human hair products do not need to be washed very often, as they do not receive the same natural oils from the scalp as our own hair does.

We suggest washing every 3-5 weeks, depending on your level of activity or If the hair has become more difficult to style due to product buildup or sweat for example. Keep in mind that the less human hair products are washed and styled, the longer they will last!

Therefore, it is best to avoid using too many hair products so that it won’t need to be washed as frequently.

HOW TO STORE HUMAN HAIR TOPPER PROPERLY

When hair is not in use, place it on a wig stand, mannequin head, or styrofoam head. They can help maintain the shape and style of the hair.

Keep in mind… human hair products should never be stored in direct sunlight or near excess heat. That can dull the color of the hair and affect the hair quality. It’s best to store it in a cool and dry place.
